Instructions to load MSHEAR onto a networked Quanterra system.

the file m4980922.bo.Z is a unix-compressed backout archive. it is the
complete distribution archive, and it's about 3.2Mb.

you can install it as follows:

1. loading the following programs into memory. you will need these, because
they will disappear when the disk is reformatted.

load format makdir copy rename del dir list edt attr deldir backin utiltrap
load compress

2. formatting the hard disk


the following 5 lines only on a 4120.
 chd /r0
 makdir T
 chd t
 unsqueeze packed -f -m             (a great deal of output ensues)
 load -d h0fmt.4120

 format /h0fmt -c=16 -rv=Q2100 -np -nv
				(replace Q2100 with whatever disk label
				 you currently have.  Type "free" to see
				 disk label before running format).
2.7 chd /h0fmt

3. when complete:

ftp the binary decompressed
file m4980922.bo to the os9 system's /h0.

you may alternatively ftp the ...bo.Z file and decompress it on the os9
system. there is a  unix-decompress ("compress -d") program on the
os9 system, but it's very slow.

4. chd /h0fmt
5. backin -f
 ...........m4980922.bo

the files should all be installed on the hard disk.

6. chx /h0/cmds

7. if this is a Q680,
   os9gen /h0fmt -q=os9boot -eb=100k

8. edit /h0/startup to remove the * from the line containing the
type of system you have, as explained below.

* select the startup continuation for the appropriate processor type
* by removing the "*" comment delimiter. make sure only one startup
* file is selected. e.g., for a Q680:
*
* startup_4120
  startup_147
* startup_00
*

9. reboot. the system will come up as a "generic/noether/lv", which
will actually work with a Q680 or Q4120. select the appropriate
directory from the configuration selection menu, save it, and reboot.
